What is TEACH ONE REACH ONE ONLINE?
In the wake of the COVID19 Virus Pandemic, many teachers and tutors working with students who have dyslexia, or who need extra reading support, found themselves suddenly scrambling to learn how to adapt a structured, multi-sensory approach to reading instruction in the online environment.
When schools closed, Reading & Dyslexia Tutor Janet Menosky Smith, a private and online tutor for 7 years, began to offer free webinars for tutors who needed to go online after the shutdown started.
Janet immediately saw interest in her book HOW TO TUTOR ONLINE grow significantly. This response and the need for private tutors and school-based teachers to learn how to effectively teach online convinced Janet it was time to start an initiative to provide support for tutors and teachers.
May, 2020: TEACH ONE REACH ONE ONLINE is founded
As many tutors gained online skills, an opportunity was born to practice those skills and reach economically under-served students by encouraging skilled teachers to volunteer to teach one student at reduced or no charge in addition to any paid or professional teaching or tutoring position they may hold.
